I Juan and the Rodriguez family started in Gramma Manzanillo Cuba before the rise of communism. My mother was the main chef in “The Licetera” where everyone in the town would come and eat her special “Fish and rice plate” and many other delectable dishes. My father worked in the cafeterias serving food to the growing children of the island and would eventually work on being the captain and chef on board a passenger ship sailing all around the island. My parents would bring my 3 siblings and I all over with them teaching us their secret cooking skills.
Some years after I was rescued by my wife and I had started working small jobs but it was not enough to have the American dream so we tried making a Catering service with Authentic Cuban foods and delicious sandwiches and drinks, we had a lot of progress, we would sell to big companies such as Warner bros and other Hollywood productions, our local neighbors and our son’s friends. Shortly after my wife fell ill and we had to slow down production and focused on regular work like truck driving to make ends meet.
After many years I freed my brother from the clutches of Cuba and now wish to bring our secrets of the kitchen to everyone to experience the authentic teachings of proud Cuban chefs and parents.
